Comfort Food

Sometimes when you are tired, not necessarily from physical work, but sometimes just from “all the things", the best idea for supper is comfort food. Food means many things. Beans and Rice is “I just paid the bills” day food. Saag is “I need spice” day food. Stir fry is “the veg drawer is almost empty” day food. But pasta is where I go most often for comfort food. When the kids were little we lived in Columbia, MO. One of our favorite restaurants for Sunday lunch was The Pasta Factory. It was downtown, in an old building with rustic brick and exposed pipes. They had a kid’s menu that had jokes and coloring to entertain them. Ask any of my kids what Smokey the Bear’s middle name is and they know. (the) A favorite on their menu was Linguine with Marinated tomatoes. This dish was a cold combination of tomatoes, olives, capers, parsley and onions, marinated in a garlic heavy dressing.
